Challenge #263 - Alphabet Magnet Day

Hello Friends of Time Out, welcome back!

If you are a newcomer to Time Out, we extend a warm welcome to you! In either case, we are so glad you are here.

For the next fortnight we have a theme challenge for you and it is

Alphabet Magnet Day

Although traditionally, we might think of magnetic letters as a children’s toy, the first known magnetic letters were actually created for the space industry. Click HERE for a bit of history behind the magnetic letters that have been decorating the faces of refrigerators for 50 years.

For this challenge you can for example use letter dies, large word dies, patterned paper with writing as focal point, embossing folders with letters or large words... many possibilities!

If your interpretation is less obvious, we kindly ask you to let us know how you were inspired. Thank you!

Our wonderful sponsor is AltenewThey're generously offering a $15 gift card to our winner, chosen by our DT!

We are joined by Carol McFarland of Saw it. Had to Make it., and winner of Time Out #259 as Guest Designer. Carol is a frequent player here at Time Out. Her work is so creative and fun, and it is always a joy to see how she interprets challenges. Do treat yourself to a stroll through her blog for some wonderful inspiration!

Here is a little bit about Carol in her own words:

"I’m a happily retired high school Spanish teacher. I like to stamp, sew, cross stitch, play word games, cook and bake. My current favorite card making techniques are die cutting and making cards that move in some way: shakers, pop-ups and fun folds. I am so excited to join the TO design team this month for two challenges!"

Carol created two cards for our challenge. Click HERE to view them on her blog and get all the deets.

And now for some inspiration from our design team!

Hello Friends of Time Out. Welcome back! If you are a newcomer to Time Out, we extend a warm welcome to you! In either case, we are so glad you are here.

Our new challenge is a Photo Inspiration Challenge. This is a very special challenge in which our inspiration is of a handmade bag made by our wonderful sponsor, Kim Heggins of Running Stitch Design. Kim is a friend and big supporter of Time Out. She is also a former DT MemberKim has a variety of wonderful handmade bags and other things in different sizes, shapes and fabric choices in her ETSY Shop. She is once again offering one of her fabulous handmade bags as both the inspiration AND the prize for this challenge. How fun is that??

Here is a close-up of the photo. Do note that you do not need to use a dog image to play along - you can, for example choose to be inspired only by the colors, patterns or shapes you see in the photo. You could also go with other animals! Let your imagination be your guide. We look forward seeing your creative takes!

We are joined by Cornelia Wenokor of Stempel-Spass and winner of Time Out #258 as our Guest Designer. Cornelia is such a talented card artist with a wicked sense of humor and a great eye for design and color. Please treat your self to a visit to her blog. You are in for a real treat and a good belly laugh!

Here is a little bit about Cornelia in her own words:

"My name is Cornelia – otherwise known as "Fun Stamping", which translates into Stempel Spass – the name of my blog. I am originally from Germany, hence my blog name, which just means fun stamping. For almost 30 years I have been living in New Jersey with my husband and our younger son. Our daughter now works and lives in England. I am working full time and like to spend my evenings creating cards. I have been totally hooked now for about 10 years. My favorite cards to make are CAS and one layer cards, but occasionally I do experiment with other styles. I love to tell little stories with my cards, I try to incorporate humor and I am also partial to snark. Besides card making I enjoy photography, hiking, biking, reading, classical and all sorts of ethnic music. I gave up on cooking – my hubby is now in charge of that. In addition, I love to travel! Somehow my days are always too short..."

This is Cornelia's fabulous card. Click HERE to view it on her blog.

And now for some inspiration from our design team!

Challenge #261 IBW "I'm a romantic! I live for long, dreamy walks down the craft aisle"

Hello Friends of Time Out. Welcome back! If you are a newcomer to Time Out, we extend a warm welcome to you! In either case, we are so glad you are here.

Our new challenge for the next fortnight is one of our Inspired by Words Challenges.

This is the quote:

"I'm a romantic! I live for long, dreamy walks down the craft aisle"

You can be inspired by the whole quote or just use one word or some words as your inspiration. In this quote words like "romantic", "walk", "craft" or "dreamy" are pretty easy starting points! We can't wait to see your creative takes on the quote. Be sure to tell us how you were inspired.

Our wonderful sponsor is Doodle BugsThey're generously offering a $25.00 store credit to our winner, chosen by our DT. Our winner also gets called to guest design in a future challenge.

We are joined by Milla of Mustesormi, and winner of Time Out #257 as Guest Designer.  Milla is an very talented paper crafter. Don’t forget to visit her BLOG and/or INSTAGRAM, share some kindness and welcome her. Meet Milla below as she tells us a little bit about herself in her own words:

"Hello, my name is Milla and I live in Finland. I have been a card maker for several years now and I guess my style tends to be more or less clean and simple. I love colouring stamped images using Copics or watercolours. I'm also a contributor to Penny Black Inc. and I love making cards with their products. You can find me on Instagram under the name of mustesormi - please pop by to say hi!"

HERE is Milla's wonderful card. I love her take on our quote. She zeroed in on "taking a walk" and went the "through nature" route. What a brilliant way to go! This is the beauty of an inspiration quote. You can go anywhere you choose!

And now for some inspiration from our design team!
